The Journey Church

Our Journey Groups are a small group setting that are the backbone of getting connected at the Journey.  We have groups that fit a number of special purposes, as well as those that are general in nature.  We meet in many different locations around the community, so take a look below – we probably have a group near you.

Mark & Michele Davidson
Where do you meet? Either our home in Holly or Bob and Stephanie Showler’s home in Waterford

When do you meet? Sunday’s 5:30-7:30 twice a month

What is your study? What do you do? What happens at your gatherings? Open forum for all to share God sightings in their life. Sharing what we’re reading in the Bible and other meaningful reading. Continued support of each other through group discussion and prayer requests. We’re currently reading through the Gospel of Mark as part of The Journey’s Hunger for God campaign. What is the mix of people and/or children in your group? Couples age from mid 30’s to late 40s, two women attend without husbands and 1 divorced woman. Children are welcome; those currently attending are ages 7-14.

Is a gourmet chef part of your group? We always have good eats. Appetizers, pizza, desserts, and sometimes something special.

Brian & Marsha Dumas
Where do you meet?  We meet in Holly about one minute from the Journey Church (The Dumas Home) 

When do you meet?   Saturday’s at 6:00 pm.   (Every other week)

What is your study? What do you do? What happens at your gatherings?  We are using 1 Corinthians as a backdrop.   We share in each other’s accomplishments and prayer requests.  We simply care about each other as an extended family. 

What is the mix of people and/or children in your group?   We have young, older, single, divorced and married people.  Children are welcomed. We have a library upstairs with a TV/DVD.

Is a gourmet chef part of your group?  Food is important. We always have lots of food along with coffee and cake.

Pat & Laura Walston
Where do you meet? At the Walston home in Highland.

When do you meet? We just finished up a group and are not currently meeting.

What is your study? What do you do? What happens at your gatherings? We host marriage groups which are 12 weeks long and meet weekly.

What is the mix of people and/or children in your group? This is a study for engaged or married couples.  Children are welcome and we have child care.

Dennis & Michelle Ziesmer
Where do you meet? Either our home in Clarkston or occassionally in the home of other group members in the area.

When do you meet? From 5:00-7:00 on the first and third Sunday of each month

What is your study? What do you do? What happens at your gatherings? Our studies vary depending on the interest and needs of the group.  We are currently shadowing Pastor Mike’s study through the Letters of John.  We are open for discussion on life topics and group feels open to sharing our lives, thoughts, and needs.

What is the mix of people and/or children in your group? We have some couples and some singles, and lots of children from 2 to 12.  We make provision for a sitter so that the kids are safe and we can focus on the study at hand.

Is a gourmet chef part of your group? We take turns in providing a light meal or snacks.  It’s always good and there is always plenty to eat and drink.
