CREATION AND OUR CREATOR

Read Genesis 1, Romans 1:19-20
We spend much in time and resources to place ourselves in awe-inspiring views – a grand mountain vista, Lake Michigan dunes at sunset, rolling forest hills in autumn, Niagara Falls up close, a precipice over the Grand Canyon, the overwhelming Iceland starkness or any of a thousand others. There is a universal tendency to pause and gaze wonderingly at this natural beauty.
We are mesmerized by the world’s flora and fauna: The delicate intricacies of flowers, the magnificent trees, the grace and proportion of a multitude of flying, running, swimming, digging, and climbing creatures. Not to mention their extraordinary capabilities: The chameleon’s tongue, the bumblebee’s ability to fly, the penguin’s Antarctic survival – the list is endless.
Though they may be attributed to some force of nature at work, these things are truly the ongoing work of our Almighty Creator God.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Our Lord created this world and everything in it from nothing. He created beauty and order; He created our abilities to think, to reason, to make use of the world he has provided. Knowing this, we are always careful to worship our Creator rather than His creation.
… God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
We are to be good stewards of the gifts that God has provided, respectful and frugal.
Are we truly appreciative of our Father’s earthly material gifts? Have we been good stewards? What can we do to better show our respect for the beauty and order of God’s handiwork?
We can sometimes make a mess when harvesting the minerals, trees, crops, and animals the Lord has provided. Do we clean up our mess or do we leave our mess and move on? Do we praise God always for His awesome power? Do we thank Him constantly for the mercy and grace of His provision?
Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.
A Prayer for Our Creator
Lord, You are the Creator of everything.
We know You love us by Your Word and by everything You provide.
Through Your Holy Spirit guide us in our worldly existence.
Guide us in our righteous use of these worldly things.
Guide us in our love for one another.
We love You, Lord. Thank you for Your mercy and grace.
In Jesus’ mighty and wonderful name, Amen.
