Read Colossians 3:23-24

As we go about our busy day, do we think good thoughts, do we have good ideas, would they honor our Lord and be pleasing to Him?

Do the things we say and how we say them honor our Lord, do they reflect the image of Jesus?

Do the things we do honor our Lord, do they align with God’s Word?

Some of us excel at developing ideas, thinking things through. 

Some of us excel at communicating, encouraging others to action. 

And some of us excel at doing, executing ideas and carrying them through.

The Lord gives each of us a unique set of talents. 

And the ultimate purpose of these talents is not to benefit ourselves, nor to benefit our employers, and not even to benefit others in need. 

We exercise our talents to honor our Lord; to show our love for Him and our devotion to Him. 

We do the best we can with what we are blessed with, always, whether it’s the work at our day-to-day job, our chores around the house, serving others in need, strengthening our brothers and sisters in fellowship, or any other activity.

“Make good things with your hands” – This involves Godly productivity, always. 

Do we set a good example by what we think, say, and do? 

Every day is filled with opportunities to promote God’s Word and our Christian Faith through our thoughts, words, and actions, by simply going about our business in a Godly way. 

Let’s take advantage of this!

A prayer from Colossians 3

Lord you have created everything, you have created me, and you provide me with everything I need, with all my talents and capabilities. 

 You give me strength to live a productive life, and strength to overcome life’s sorrows.

 Guide my thoughts, my words, my hands, and my feet through every moment of every day. 

 Let everything, I think, say, and do honor You; may the examples I set for others be pleasing to You.

 I love You, Lord, thank You for Your mercy and grace.
