Don’t Let Them Remain Behind

Read 2 Timothy 1:6-9

The movie “A Great Awakening” centers on the friendship between Benjamin Franklin and George Whitefield during the period leading up to the Revolutionary War.  In the story, George Whitefield is an Evangelistic Preacher who is on fire for the Lord, while Benjamin Franklin’s faith is lukewarm, at best.

Throughout their friendship Whitefield is continually exhorting Franklin with God’s word.  Franklin is respectful, but he is preoccupied with other things.  Whitefield’s preachings are ineffective; Franklin remains lukewarm in his faith.

Finally, in a fit of frustration, that human emotion, but out of a deep concern and love for Franklin, Whitefield implores Franklin, passionately and loudly, to accept God’s Word and embrace his own faith, and to understand that in the end nothing matters except God.

Do you know someone of lukewarm faith, or someone who is indifferent to faith, or maybe a proclaimed atheist?

When you witness to them, proclaiming God’s Word, do you do it boldly, with conviction, and ensuring that they know you are doing so out of a deep love and concern for them?

If we deliver a lukewarm message to someone of lukewarm faith, everything will remain lukewarm.  Doubt will remain.

To inspire someone to come out of the ditch of unbelief our message must be bold, convicting, leaving no doubt about our faith and our deep love for God.

Let’s not allow them to remain in the ditch.

A prayer from 1 Corinthians 14:8 

Lord and Father God, I am forever grateful for your love; thankful for the mercy and grace you show me every day.

I pray for opportunities to speak to others of you.

And when I speak let me show my love for you loudly, boldly, and with conviction, leaving no doubts.

You are the Creator and Lord of everything.  There is nothing without you, I am nothing without you.

 I love You, Lord.  Thank you for the Eternal Life you have given me through your Son, Jesus Christ.
