God Is with Us Wherever We Go

Summer has a way of pulling us into new places - road trips, camps, beaches, ball fields, and backyards. Schedules change, routines shift, and routine that we normally have becomes different. In the middle of all that movement, Joshua 1:9 gives us a steady reminder: God goes with us, everywhere we go, all the time.

When Joshua first heard these words, he was standing on the edge of a huge transition. Moses was gone. The people were looking to him. The land ahead was unfamiliar. Joshua probably felt what we often feel—excitement mixed with uncertainty. And into that moment, God didn’t give him a map, a detailed plan, or a guarantee that everything would be easy. God gave him something better: His presence.

We often think courage comes from knowing what’s ahead. But God teaches us that courage comes from knowing Who is going with us. Whether we’re stepping into a new school year, a new team, a new job, or simply a new day, God’s promise is the same: “I am with you.”

Think about the places you’ll go this summer or where you’ve already been. Maybe it is fun or unfamiliar places, but maybe what is ahead is somewhere you would rather avoid. What would change if you walked into every experience fully aware that God is already there? How would it shape your attitude, your confidence, your peace?

This week, choose one activity—swimming, hiking, driving, grilling and pause before it begins. Say out loud or quietly in your heart: “God, thank You that You are with me right now.” Let that simple truth shape how you show up, how you treat others, and how you handle whatever comes.

Lord, thank You for the promise that You are with us wherever we go. As we move through our summer days—busy ones, quiet ones, exciting ones, and uncertain ones—help us remember Your presence. Give us courage when we feel unsure and peace when we feel overwhelmed. Help our family walk with confidence, knowing You go before us, behind us, and beside us. Amen.
